Indian Vaidic Vidhapeeth,Lucknow Uttar Pardesh was established on 1st December, 1986. Earlier, the Regional Centre, Lucknow was looking after whole of Uttar Pradesh but with the creation of new state of Uttarakhand and expansion and decentralization of various activities, new Regional Centres at Aligarh, Varanasi, Dehradun and Noida were established and districts from the jurisdiction of Regional Centre, Lucknow were transferred to these Regional Centres. Even after such divisions, Regional Centre, Lucknow is still one of the largest Regional Centres in terms of jurisdiction and enrollment of learners.
Indian Vaidic Vidhapeeth Lucknow, Uttar Pardesh, Lucknow commenced its functioning with one study centre under its supervision at Lucknow. In 1987, major expansion took place in important cities such as Allahabad, Agra, Bareilly, Dehradun, Kanpur, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Sultanpur and Haldwani. The expansion continued and in the next 10 years, the number of Learner Support Centre rose to 50 by the year 2000.
